Had an accident? Start here.

Safety first. Then report the claim to the claims number on your policy documents or ID card.

If anyone is hurt or the road is blocked, call 911 now.

We’re here for coverage questions Mon–Fri 8 AM–6 PM ET.

What to do, in order

  1. Step 1: Get safe. Stop, turn on your hazards and set out warning devices when it’s safe to do so and as required. Call 911 if anyone is hurt or traffic is at risk.

  2. Step 2: Document the scene, when it’s safe. Don’t let it delay emergency help, reporting the claim or any required post-accident testing.

    • Photos of every vehicle, the road, damage and cargo.
    • Names, phones, plates and insurance details from everyone involved and any witnesses.
    • The officer’s report number.
  3. Step 3: Report the claim. Call the claims number on your policy documents or insurance ID card.

    • Do it as soon as you safely can, even after our office hours or on a weekend.
    • Follow the reporting instructions in your policy.
    • Ask for a claim or reference number and the next steps, and write them down.
    • Keep the number in your cab: write it on the checklist below.
  4. Step 4: Tell the people you work for. If you’re leased on, call your dispatcher or safety department. If you’re loaded, tell the broker or shipper. Follow any post-accident drug and alcohol testing rules that apply to you.

  5. Step 5: Call us. We can help you understand your coverage and what the adjuster may ask for. During business hours call (305) 776-9420; after hours, leave a message or email sales@pharosins.com. We’ll get back to you within one business day, often the same day.

  • Don’t admit fault or guess about what happened.
  • Don’t throw away damaged cargo or parts until the adjuster has a chance to see them, unless safety, the law or emergency responders require it. If something has to be removed or cleaned up, photograph it first when it’s safe, and write down who took it and where it went.
  • Don’t post about the accident online.

Telling us isn’t the same as reporting a claim

Report the claim yourself, using the claims number and instructions on your policy documents or ID card, and ask for a claim or reference number. Calling, texting or emailing us gets you help with your coverage and what to send, but it doesn’t report the claim. Don’t rely on contacting us to meet a reporting requirement, and don’t assume it extends a deadline.

Can’t find your claims number? Call us during business hours and we’ll help you find it. After hours, check your policy documents, your ID card or your policy’s online account if you have one.

Claims questions

Will reporting a claim raise my price?

It can affect future pricing, depending on the claim. That’s not a reason to skip reporting. Late or missing reports can put coverage at risk.

Should I report a claim if I might pay for it myself?

Check your policy first. Many policies require prompt notice of accidents, even if you never ask for payment. Call us and we’ll go over what your policy says.

What if the accident was minor and nobody was hurt?

Report it anyway if your policy requires it, and document it the same way. Small accidents can turn into claims later.

Questions about your coverage?

We can explain your coverage and what the adjuster may ask for, but we don’t report claims for you. During business hours, call us.
